Getting started

Quickstart

Put AgentPay in front of an existing API and confirm that unpaid requests are asked to pay.

Set up a project

  1. Create a project

A project groups one customer-facing API: its payment channels, its endpoints, and its generated discovery document.

  2. Enable a payment channel

Start with x402 Testnet or MPP Tempo Testnet. Both are available on the Free plan and use no real funds.

  3. Add an endpoint

Map a public slug such as chat or search to your backend URL and HTTP method. Add request and response schemas so agents know how to call it.

  4. Share the generated URL

Clients call the AgentPay URL instead of your backend URL. AgentPay collects payment, then forwards valid requests.

Make a test call

Call your endpoint without paying. You should get back HTTP 402 with the payment options your channel accepts.

Terminal
curl -i https://agent-proxy.alchemy.com/v1/x402-testnet/{projectId}/chat/messages

To complete a paid request, use a client that supports the protocol, such as an agent with the Agent Payment Skill.

Go live

When paid requests work end to end on testnet, work through the launch checklist and enable a production channel.
