Getting started

Launch checklist

Everything to set up and test before you send production traffic through AgentPay.

Checklist

  1. Choose a plan

The Free plan covers testnet channels. Production channels need a paid plan. See Plans and limits.

  2. Name and describe your project

The project name and description appear in the generated discovery document, so write them for the agents that will read them.

  3. Enable payment channels

Validate on a testnet channel first. Add production or card-backed channels once the client flow works end to end.

  4. Add endpoints

For each API surface, set a slug, HTTP method, backend URL, request and response schemas, and any parameters agents should know about.

  5. Add backend headers if needed

Use custom headers for secrets your backend expects, such as an internal API key. AgentPay adds them to forwarded requests; they never appear in the public URL.

  6. Test unpaid and paid requests

Confirm an unpaid request returns 402. Then confirm a paid retry reaches your backend, returns the expected payload, and includes a payment receipt header.

  7. Publish your URLs and discovery document

Share the protocol-specific URLs with clients and give agents your OpenAPI discovery URL.

Before you share URLs

Keep testnet and production URLs apart

Testnet and production channels have different URL segments. Give clients only the URLs for the networks you want them to pay on, so nobody signs a payment for the wrong one.
